ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES

Challenge and Solutions

Electric co-op communications teams are tasked with keeping their member-owners informed, educated, and engaged, but this work often extends beyond the responsibilities of the team. As the co-op’s communications agency, we’ve supported many organizations with effective social media campaigns that utilize eye-catching design to convey important messages to members. We’ve found that social media is a great way to provide status updates, build trust, garner votes for board elections and initiatives, and educate members about important co-op topics, such as time of use or solar scams (usually as part of a broader multi-pronged campaign). We’ve helped numerous co-ops engage member-owners, communicate important annual report data, educate the community about vegetation management, promote member appreciation and other special events, and so much more through social media campaigns.

Results

We have created several notable campaigns that helped co-ops effectively inform, engage, and educate their members. Notable campaigns include one for YVEA that effectively communicated the benefits, downsides, and logistics of solar power to member-owners in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. We have also created many multifaceted vegetation management education programs that have alleviated members’ anxieties, giving the co-ops the social license to operate with ease. In another campaign, we carefully crafted messages to help electric co-ops communicate an impending Time of Use rate adjustment
